Hitting a Trough of the Genocidal Wave?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following a decade of intense systematic persecution against the Uyghurs and other Turkic peoples in East Turkistan, the Chinese regime appears to have reduced its firepower in recent years. As the world struggled to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic, China began welcoming tourists from an expanding list of countries after the introduction of its visa-free policy, a move believed to address the country\u2019s slowing economy, deflation concerns, and image repair needs. The Persecution of Uyghurs In East Turkistan Extrajudicial \/ Extralegal Mass Internment Camps<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since 2017, a great deal of news reports and a growing number of research papers have been published, documenting and addressing the human rights violations committed and continue to be committed by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) against the Turkic peoples as well as Hui Muslims. Among these human rights violations in East Turkistan, the establishment of the extrajudicial internment camps has been the most prominent over the last couple of years, which have been disguisedly referred to as \u201cre-education\u201d \/ \u201cvocational training\u201d centers by the Chinese regime. In the subsequent section the Camp System, the very nature and the various types of these internment camps will be further elaborated. Over the past few decades, assimilative Han-ethnocentric sinicization policies along with concerning physical and psychological control measures of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) have had a detrimental impact on Uyghurs and other Turkic peoples in East Turkistan (aka. Xinjiang). These measures attempted to create complete authority and subservience in the region while eradicating the Uyghur people\u2019s Turkic identity, including their language, culture, and religion. The current crisis in the region has already resulted in significant condemnations, particularly coming from the West.
