2020 Report “The Persecution Of Uyghurs in East Turkistan” Now Available in Russian!

Uyghur Transitional Justice Database is pleased to announce the publication of our 2020 report “The Persecution of Uyghurs in East Turkistan” in Russian as part of the initiative “Readership expansion and multilingualism: Initiating the translation process of reports and books into Russian”. As a core component of our ongoing efforts, the translation of this report, and soon our books, represents a significant step toward reaching broader communities and fostering a deeper understanding of the persecution and crimes against humanity faced by Uyghurs and other Turkic peoples in East Turkistan.

The importance of this initiative lies in the fact that the Russian language is widely spoken across Central Asia, a region that is home to a substantial Uyghur population. By translating our report and books into Russian, we are not only bridging linguistic barriers but also engaging new audiences who may have previously had limited access to crucial information about the Uyghur cause.

Through this endeavor, we aim to contribute to the expanding body of research on Uyghur issues while addressing the shortage of scholarly literature on East Turkistan within Russian-speaking academic circles. Making our materials accessible in Russian is intended to stimulate informed discourse and raise awareness about the ongoing human rights abuses in the region of East Turkistan.
