Human Rights Advocacy Day

On 18 September 2025, the University of South-Eastern Norway (USN) Campus Drammen hosted Advocacy Day 2025, an inspiring gathering dedicated to dialogue on human rights, democracy, and global solidarity. Organized by Scholars at Risk (SAR) Advocacy at USN, the event brought together students, academics, and activists to reflect on pressing challenges in human rights advocacy.

The program opened with a warm welcome followed by a musical performance by music students. Their performance set a reflective and uplifting tone for the day ahead. Shortly after, Adiljan Abdurihim, Coordinator of the Uyghur Transitional Justice Database (UTJD), delivered a presentation on human rights violations and the systematic oppression of Uyghurs in East Turkistan. The session, chaired by Christian and Arathana, highlighted the urgency of addressing global injustices while connecting them to broader conversations on advocacy.

Advocacy Day 2025 at USN was more than just an academic seminar. It became a space for transformative learning, solidarity, and collective reflection. By bringing together voices from across the world, the event demonstrated the importance of standing united in the defence of human rights and democracy.
