The Uyghur Transitional Justice Database (UTJD) is proud to announce the soft launch of the beta version of its educational application “Could You Be Detained?”, which was used for the first time during the Future-Proof conference, engaging approximately 100 participants.
The application is an interactive educational and awareness platform designed to encourage reflection on democratic values, human rights, and international law. Through a series of questions based on everyday activities, participants are invited to consider how ordinary actions can become grounds for arbitrary detention in East Turkistan, where millions of Uyghurs and other Turkic peoples have faced serious human rights violations.
By transforming research findings into an engaging educational experience, the platform helps participants better understand the realities of state repression and the importance of protecting fundamental rights and freedoms.
The successful launch represents the collaborative efforts of researchers, developers, educators, volunteers, and interns who worked together to transform years of research and documentation into an accessible learning tool.
As this was the first public testing phase of the beta version, participant feedback and observations will play an important role in further improving the platform. UTJD will continue refining the application’s content, user experience, and educational features as development progresses.
To fully realize the platform’s potential and expand its educational impact, UTJD is actively seeking support from partners, institutions, and donors. Additional support will help us further develop the application, enhance its functionality, introduce new educational modules, and make it accessible to a wider range of audiences around the world.
Following the positive reception at Future-Proof, organizations, schools, universities, and community groups can now apply for access to the platform for educational events, workshops, and awareness activities. UTJD aims to gradually expand access and make the application available to broader audiences in the future.
